Unit Leaders/Bishops

Bishop's night will begin at 5:15p with dinner -
Wednesday, March 18 at Camp
During our special program that evening, you will walk with your ward to the stations as the YL's lead and teach!

Bishops, we appreciate when you can stay overnight after testimony meeting and help the young women in your ward pack up. We should be leaving no later than 1p Thursday.

Also, remember the Fundraising Policies in Church Handbook 2,13.6.8 https://www.lds.org/handbook/handbook-2-administering-the-church/activities/13.6#136

**Any YW funds you want to hold over or prepay for camp next year, must be discussed with the Bishop who then needs to get approval from the Stake President.

The price of camp will remain $100 per young women/leader

Ward Responsibilities
TRANSPORTATION – Wards are responsible for coordinating transportation to and from camp.  We encourage you to ask all parents to help with the transportation one way.  Please be aware that YL’s need to be taken care of also.  Remember, they arrive earlier and that all YL’s are required to stay until all wards are checked out.
ROLL CALL – Prepare a brief song or chant for roll call each morning and evening.  You should consider delegating the creation of these to your 4th year girls.
SKIT NIGHT – Prepare a short, FUN,  3 minute skit.  You will have 1 minute to set-up, 3 minutes for the skit and 1 minute to exit the “stage”.  This can be something to introduce your young women or to introduce your camp theme.  Be creative and have fun.
FLAG –Each ward should bring a flag that can be carried and displayed on a pole at camp.  Your flag should represent your ward.  Size guidelines:  approximately 3’x4’
MEALS – Meals will be prepared at camp.  Remember to consider making plans for lunch on the way home.
WATER – Be sure to have at least 5 gallons of water in your campsite for consumption.  Water is available in the bathroom areas located near the campsites.  Ice will be brought to your campsites each day for your water containers and ice chests.  Soft drinks are not recommended as they only make you thirstier.
WOOD/FIRES – Remember to make sure you have a bucket of water and a shovel to extinguish campfires if necessary.
T-SHIRTS-Remember optional Ward t-shirts can be made or printed, are usually worn on Bishop's night and come out of your ward camp budget. Stake provides all campers with one stake t-shirt.
KAPERS – Each ward is responsible to perform various clean-up activities around the camp each day as well as in their own campsites.  Assignments and descriptions will be given to you later.  It is important that each girl participate in completing kapers each day.  A chart will help you make sure assignments are divided evenly.  There will be accountability to the stake for camp kapers.  Please alert your girls to these duties ahead of time.
BISHOP’S NIGHT/TESTIMONY MEETING – We will have our nice dinner in the Mess Hall with our Bishops and their wives on Wednesday night.   This will follow evening kapers at the council ring.  Our special program and remarks from our Stake Presidency will begin our evening.  Following the stake president’s remarks, each ward will return to their campsites for a special evening with their Bishop’s.  Plan an activity or program with your Bishop.  We encourage you to show love and respect to your Bishop.  From here, we are asking each ward to have their own testimony meeting in their campsite.  We ask that you do all you can to invite the spirit in to your campsite.  Treats with your Bishop should also be planned on the ward level.

SNACKS – You may want to consider planning a snack/other treat or two for your girls each day.  If you choose to do this, you may consider charging a few dollars more to cover this cost.  Be sure to take into consideration any coolers, etc. that you may need to store these items.  Please be careful in asking for too much money.  We do not want camp to be too much of a financial burden on our families.  Simple is good.

Unit Leader – Assignments
(Turn in 1 per leader attending camp)

Name:_____________________________  Ward:__________________________

Every Unit Leader attending camp needs to fill this form out and return it with your registration.  You will be placed in one of the three areas to work, every day during certification time.  Number your top 3 choices for assignments (#1 being your first choice and so on).

_____________ Help the certification leaders and girls during certification time. You will also attend a pre-camp certification clinic on February 21, 2015 10a-1p at the Clear Lake building.
Please specify which year you would most like to work with _________
_____________ Help in the kitchen with whatever is needed.
_____________ Help in crafts with whatever is needed.

This assignment sheet has helped in the past years.  We will try to accommodate your request as best we can.  We are hoping that by placing you in the area of your choice, you will have a more enjoyable experience, too.  However, some assignments will be based on need.  It is important that we all pitch in to help make camp a success.  We appreciate all you do for us and for the girls to help make camp a positive experience.
Thank you for your willingness to serve.  You never know who you might touch.

We love and appreciate you!
